Weeknote for WK 07/2026
As I went through the motions of importing posts into this blog, it became obvious to me that I am very bad with doing the weeknote thing. Since it is rather a "a-few-times-per-year-thing" I probably should skip this altogether.
Considered that at the least the past week(s) things had been rather eventful though, I thought another occasional weeknote couldn't hurt.
So, let's start with the most obvious.
The Blog
I moved the blog - again - and am for the first time in years very excited about the blog and the platform it's running on. I'm using Kev Quirks Pure Blog on my own server (well, not "OWN", it's running on Uberspace) and, despite having self-hosted before plenty of times before, this time everything just feels right. Great!
I fiddled with the CSS of the theme and came up with a design based on Pure Blog's backend and am enjoying it a lot. Which might be a first as well.
In the process I also set up the /themelog with screenshots themes that I used in the past.
I also changed the domain of this blog. As usual I couldn't quite decide on which one to use and in the process made a bit of a mess on my new-ish Mastodon account.
Which brings me to...
Social Media
I "finally" set up my social.lol Mastodon account, after having joined OMG.LOL already a year or so ago1. My handle there is unsurprisingly: @svbck.
In the process I also have set up my omg.lol landing/profile page: svbck.omg.lol. I had plans to do this for a while, never did it though.
I told you that I enjoy the current theme on the blog and implemented it there as well.
And while I was at it, I eventually ordered a
new Avatar
I had this on my mind for a long time, but never took the chance to do so, but now was the time and I ordered an avatar picture from Andy Carolan. They seem to be very popular with the folks on social.lol and I had been eyeballing with them for quite some time and Andy had one slot available. I took this as a sign.
Love this! And by now I should have it implemented everywhere.
Reading
I am currently on a "Murderbot Diaries" binge, and have only one book left. I think this is the third time I am reading these, and the books are as great as always. I am looking forward to "Platform Decay" the next book in the series, which should be released in the beginning of May.
I think this would be it. I am almost 100% sure that the next weeknote will not be out in the next week. But until the next time then.
