I wrote at some point how much I enjoy reading other people's diaries and in the past I had been particularly fascinated by autobiographies of my favourite Jazz artists.
My copy of this book. Judging by the bookmark that I used I had been reading the book last around 30 years ago.
The last one I read had been the audiobook of Herbie Hancock's Possibilities - in which Herbie himself is doing the reading (highly recommended 5/5). Before that, as in about 30 years before that, there had been of course the Miles Davis and the Charles Mingus one, Count Basie, Nathan Davis and a few more. I have to admit it such a long time ago that I lost track a little.
Another one that stood out then is Art and Laurie Pepper's Straight Life.
Art certainly had an rather, say "peculiar" career, with drug addiction and various stints in prisons. I remember the (granted... 30+ years ago) autobiography to be rather honest, brutal in some ways and interesting.
Long story short, the other day You Tube shoved a recommendation of a reading of said book by his wife Laurie Pepper into my feed which sounded interesting. It turned out that the reading is available with a new episode on Sundays.

Note: for some reason the RSS feed, which would be (and in fact is) also available in a podcast player, only contains the first 12 episodes and not the full feed. Which is as annoying as one might think.
I don’t remember many details from the book, but this had been a good opportunity to catch up with it again and am currently in the fourth episode. If I not press the publish button soon.
