A Blogful of Indecision...

The Overthinkers Guide to rekindle your Blogging Mojo

So, you haven't been blogging much lately? Had a break? Didn't found the time or inspiration to write something? Too busy? And now you are annoyed because the blog lies dormant for a while already and you want to do something about it?

Well, I have good news, here's a tried and tested solution for you! It works every time... for me!

Phase 1

  1. What you don't want to do is to simply start writing a post and publish it. First you have to fiddle with the theme! Even better: write a new one! Or heck, maybe even two! This is a mandatory step and cannot be skipped. Nothing says "I found my blogging mojo again!" better than a fresh coat of paint!
  2. Import more of your old posts! Back then you still had something to say - or so you chose to believe - and it's nice to have those post around.
  3. It goes without saying that you have to update the open-graph pictures to fit your blogs' new theme
  4. Re-think your blogging/writing setup. It needs to be optimized! Needs to be mobile! You have to be able to update from a toilet stall on a sinking cruise-ship if need be.
  5. Optimize the way how you use social media. Cross-post things everywhere. Flood the internet! You know, POSSE!
  6. Semi-optional: adjust the Miniflux (change to feed reader of choice) and Obsidian (or whatever text-editor you use) themes. You might, "possibly", even change the desktop theme. Why not?! Things have to be consistent!

Phase 2

  1. Write one, possibly two posts, even a whole series if need be, about the things you have done! See, now we're talking! You are getting some writing done!
  2. With that out of the way, it's now time to doubt some the design-choices from phase 1. Do some more tweaking!

Phase 3

  1. Mission accomplished! By now way too many hours have been spent and it's time to cool down. Also: you ran out of ideas already - again - thus stopped writing
  2. Be silent for a few more weeks/months, hope for inspiration and eventually repeat with Phase 1.

My personal hell... "Maybe" there is a chance I am able to skip a few of these steps this time. Question is just which?

In the meanwhile you might amuse yourself browsing through my theme-log or change-log and have a look what kind of mess I made.
